TONOPAH, Ariz. — Authorities say eastbound I-10 is closed in the desert west of Phoenix because of two wrecks involving three tractor-trailer rigs.
The Arizona Department of Public Safety says one driver was killed Tuesday morning when his truck struck a second big rig that had stopped on the highway after a third truck rolled west of Tonopah.
Trooper Kameron Lee says an extended closure is expected because of the amount of damage and debris.
Lee says eastbound traffic is being taken off I-10 at Milepost 45 and routed through Salome back onto I-10.
The Department of Transportation recommends that drivers consider delaying travel or using an alternate route during the closure.
