CPD canine catches fleeing bicyclist

A local man wanted on multiple warrants was caught by a Columbus Police Department canine.

Columbus police officers saw Sage Banks, 21 Columbus, in the 2800 block of 22nd Street at 5:25 p.m. Tuesday, said Lt. Matt Harris, Columbus Police Department spokesman.

Officers confirmed Banks had three local warrants for his arrest. Banks fled from officers on his bicycle, and officers pursued him through a nearby apartment complex and later into the Columbus Regional Health parking lot, Harris said. During the pursuit, officers used a police canine to apprehend Banks, Harris said.

Banks was taken to the hospital for medical clearance and later arrested on charges of resisting law enforcement, possession of a legend drug injection device and three Bartholomew County warrants.
