Deputies arrest two on preliminary charges of auto theft

Bartholomew County Sheriff deputies arrested two men on charges of auto theft after receiving a report of a suspicious vehicle in the area of South Jonesville Road and West Deaver Road.

Deputies were sent to the area at 10:37 a.m. Tuesday after a caller said a blue Trailblazer had been seen at a residence there, and a green Ford pickup had been removed from the residence. The caller said the home was vacant.

The vehicles were located by Indiana State Trooper Jason Duncan who stopped them at Jonesville Road and Spear Street, deputies said.

The driver of the Trailblazer was identified as Jeremiah Anderson, 35, of 2577 Country Manor St., North Vernon, deputies said.The driver of the Ford pickup was identified as Trevor Dilk, 47, of 2722 Coventry St., North Vernon, deputies said.

Both men said the property owner had given them permission to remove the truck. The property owner later advised officers he had not given anyone permission to be on the property or to remove the truck.

Dilk and Anderson were each arrested on a preliminary charge of auto theft and each were being held in the Bartholomew County Jail in lieu of $7,500 bond, jail officials said.
