Woman accused of taking drugs, paraphernalia into courthouse

A local woman was arrested after being accused of attempting to bring drugs and drug paraphernalia inside the Bartholomew County Courthouse.

Bartholomew County Sheriff’s Deputy Matt Bush was sent to the courthouse at 3:24 p.m. Monday after Correctional Officer Tim Claburn said he located a syringe in a make-up bag that was submitted for search at the metal detector at the courthouse entrance.

Sharon Cook, 54, 1103 Central Ave., told deputies that the syringe belonged to someone else. However, she also said she had a pipe on her person, but no other drugs or drug-related items. After Cook was taken to the Bartholomew County Jail, Sgt. Courtney Fish found a small baggie containing a white crystal substance on Cook’s person, deputies said.

Cook was arrested on preliminary charges of possession of methamphetamine, possession of legend drug injection devices, trafficking with an inmate and possession of paraphernalia.
