Two arrested in traffic stop, accused of robbery, battery

Two people have been arrested on preliminary charges of robbery after they were accused of beating and robbing a local resident after dragging the victim into a local residence Thursday night.

Columbus police saw a vehicle associated with the robbery at about 10 p.m. Thursday traveling on Marr Road, said Lt. Matt Harris, Columbus Police Department spokesman.

When officers attempted to stop the vehicle near 30th Street and Marr, one of the vehicle’s doors opened and a person fled from the vehicle, Harris said.

The remaining occupants — Perry K. Davis, 22, of 413 15th St., and Willowdale A. Bennett, 38, of 2228 Union St. — were taken into custody, Harris said.
