North Vernon police investigate threat to Jennings County High School

NORTH VERNON — Jennings County High School officials said a staff member at the high school received a telephone threat of violence involving the school building at 2:45 p.m. Monday.

School resource officer Matt Staples was notified and activated a response plan that included mobilizing on-duty North Vernon Police Department officers who made a security sweep of the school and surrounding area, said Sgt. Andrew Richmond, North Vernon Police Department spokesman.

No threats were found and a lock down that had been implemented at the school was lifted.

An investigation into the incident continues and more information will be released when it is available, Richmond said.
