Local player on ‘Price Is Right’ Wednesday

A retired Columbus school teacher will be a contestant on Wednesday’s airing of “The Price Is Right” with host Drew Carey.

Kathy Rebber, who lives at Lutheran Lake south of Columbus, was a member of the Hollywood, California, game-show audience Feb. 6, when she and a friend in California got tickets.

The show featuring Rebber, 64, a retired Mounty Healthy Elementary School physical education teacher, will air at 11 a.m. on CBS.

She knew the odds of getting called out of 350 studio audience members weren’t great. But when was her name called, she raced down to the front.

Kim Darlage, owner of Small Town Stitches in Seymour, made a custom shirt for Rebber to wear, which said: “Retired Teacher’s Dream — Race a Rat.”

Race a Rat is a game on the show.

The former educator is married to Tom Rebber, a Columbus firefighter.

The last competitor with local ties to make it on stage was Columbus native Kristen Clark, who played on Nov. 2, 2015.
