Deputies arrest two after stolen car located

Bartholomew County Sheriff’s deputies arrested two people after OnStar notified police that a stolen vehicle had been located in Newbern.

Deputy Teancum Clark was sent 15785 E. Main St. in Newbern, in eastern Bartholomew County, about the vehicle on Monday at the request of the Columbus Police Department, deputies said.

OnStar had disabled a white Chevrolet Malibu at that address, deputies said. OnStar, a subsidiary of General Motors, is a vehicle safety and security system that can be used to locate stolen vehicles.

Deputy Brent Worman located the vehicle and two people behind a garage, but a man identified as Charles R. Barr Jr., 39, of Newbern, fled on foot.
