Local state police trooper promoted

Indiana State Police Master Trooper Jason Duncan, a Bartholomew County resident who patrols the Versailles District, has been promoted to the rank of detective.

He will be assigned to the Criminal Investigative Division at the Versailles Post.

Duncan, a Lawrence County native, is a 1991 graduate of Bedford North Lawrence High School. He graduated from Indiana University in 1995 with a degree in criminal justice. Duncan graduated from the Indiana State Police Academy in December 1996. He then was assigned to the Sellersburg District, where he patrolled Clark County.

He transferred to the Seymour District in 1999 and patrolled Bartholomew County. In 2008, Duncan took a position in the Executive Protection Division and was assigned to then-Gov. Mitch Daniels’ detail. Duncan transferred to the Versailles District in 2012 and again patrolled Bartholomew County until his recent promotion.

Duncan has been a field training officer, tactical intervention platoon team member, child safety seat inspector and a control tactics instructor.

He was named to his new position after completing the Indiana State Police Promotion Process, which includes a written test, promotion interview, performance evaluations and commander recommendations.

Duncan lives in Bartholomew County with his wife and three children.
