Greensburg man arrested after running from Columbus police

A Greensburg man was arrested after he attempted to flee on foot from a Columbus police officer.

Officer Trenton Browning was attempting a locate a man who fled on foot from a suspicious vehicle in the 2500 block of Jordan Drive at 9:25 a.m. Saturday, said Lt. Matt Harris, Columbus Police Department spokesman.

Browning saw the man a short time later in the 2600 block of Sandcrest Boulevard and attempted to speak with him, Harris said. When trying to determine the man’s identity, the individual, later identified as Andrew T. Kress, 38, Greensburg, fled on foot, and refused to stop when ordered to do so, Harris said.

Kress was arrested after Browning deployed a taser during a short foot pursuit, Harris said. Kress was taken to the Bartholomew County Jail on preliminary charges of driving while suspended with a prior conviction, resisting law enforcement, a Decatur County warrant and false informing, jail officials said.
