Charges filed against retired sheriff’s deputy accused of child molesting

A retired Bartholomew County Sheriff’s deputy who worked as a Ceraland security volunteer has been formally charged in Bartholomew Superior Court 1 with child molestation and other charges.

Larry L. Scott, 72, of 3281 N. County Road 625E, also a former reserve deputy for the sheriff’s department, is accused of four felonies and a misdemeanor in the charges filed late Thursday.

Court documents state Scott is accused of:

  • Two counts of Level 4 felony child molesting involving a child younger than age 14
  • A Level 6 felony charge of possession of child pornography
  • A Level 6 felony charge of performing sexual conduct in the presence of a minor (involving a child younger than age 14)
  • Class C misdemeanor possession of paraphernalia

Scott was a volunteer with the night-time security detail at Ceraland, helping supervise three officers who provide patrols and night-time security at the facility, according to Ceraland officials. Scott stayed at a camper on the Ceraland property, according to Ceraland officials.

The probable cause affidavit accompanying the charges states that an Indiana State trooper had documented a complaint about child molesting at Ceraland on July 21.

Court documents state Scott is accused of molesting a 12-year-old boy at his camper on July 21, and is also accused of taking a photo on his phone of the child during the incident.
