20th Bean Blossom Blues Fest opens Thursday

The Bean Blossom Blues Fest has expanded to three days of live music this year for its 20th annual event.

Performers include long-standing friends mixed with acts that are new to The Bean, which has drawn music lovers from more than 30 states to the Bill Monroe Music Park and Campground in Morgantown.

Big Al & The Heavyweights performed at the inaugural festival in 1999 and are making their sixth visit. Other repeaters are Jason Ricci and Danielle Nicole.

Newcomers include Monster Mike Welch & Mike Ledbetter, Larkin Poe, Bernard Allison and Tommy Castro and the Painkillers.
