Jennings cross-country teams sweep season opener

The Jennings County Middle School boys and girls cross-country teams opened their seasons Monday by sweeping their Blue and White Invite.

The Panther boys scored 23 points to 52 for runner-up Madison. The girls scored 33 points to 50 for second-place Madison Shawe.

Jennings’ Eddie Ray won the boys race in 12 minutes, 51 seconds. Logan Peacock finished third in 13:00, while Noah McFall was fourth (13:01), Eli Wahlman fifth (13:14) and Brock Maschino 10th (13:57).

Halle Franks led the Panther girls with a second-place finish in 14:43. Macy Addis took third in 14:45, while Mary Gasper was sixth (15:24), Katie Gasper ninth (15:40) and Justine Jones 13th (16:38).

Panthers open with win

The Jennings County Middle School co-ed White team opened its season Monday with a 5-1 win against South Ripley.

Christian Hernandez scored two goals for the Panthers, and Ethan McGuire, Jacob Scruggs and Gabe Wells all added one. McGuire recorded one save.

Seventh-graders post wins

The Jennings County seventh-grade White team swept a pair of games last week, beating St. Peter’s 25-23, 25-17 on Tuesday and Greensburg 25-10, 25-18 on Thursday.

Charlee Barlow served five aces, and Alyssa Simpson added three aces against St. Peter’s. Lucy Brown led the Panthers (2-1) with eight aces, and Juliann Woodard had six aces against Greensburg.

The Jennings eighth-grade White team fell to St. Peter’s 25-21, 25-8 and Greensburg 25-18, 25-22. Taylor Mowery served four aces, and Stella Millspaugh added three aces against St. Peters. Ellie Law, Millspaugh and Zoie Suhre all served three aces for the Panthers (0-3) against Greensburg.

The Jennings County seventh-graders opened their season with a 20-0 loss to Greendale.
