Our community is growing and blossoming. To sustain our success, we need to continue to promote a healthy community, both mentally and physically.
I am reaching out today and asking residents to stand with me as I proudly recognize a cornerstone of mental health support in our community, Family Service Inc. It celebrates a tremendous milestone this year: 50 years of service to Bartholomew County.
Over the past 28 years, I have had the privilege to serve multiple tenures as a board member of this organization. I have watched it expand, and I have watched it contract. I have watched it shift directions as our community identified new needs, and implement programs to meet those needs. I have watched dedicated employees work hard and commit several years to this organization, not for personal financial gain or accolades, but rather for selfless love of community and families.
One thing has remained consistent throughout the years: Family Service is dedicated to servant leadership — putting children and families first in the community in which we live.
My ask of the community is quite simple:
- If a person knows a current Family Service Inc. employee or retiree, thank them for their service and congratulate them on being a part of 50 years of great history.
- If a person knows the work this organization does, spread the word to others about the value it brings to our community.
- If a person does not know anything about Family Service Inc., please ask someone, because he or she will be pleasantly surprised by what they learn.
- If a person has an interest in serving our community in a capacity to promote and maintain healthy children and families, contact Family Service to learn about the requirements.
Regardless of one’s area of interest, specialization, field of work, etc., I think all would agree with me that 50 years of service is a great accomplishment.
Bartholomew County deserves thanks for allowing Family Service to service the needs of children and families here for 50 Years. And, Family Service Inc. deserves thanks for 50 years. Here is to 50 more!
