Area residents invited to sign up for Blue Line 5K

DARE and Women Behind the Badge are inviting area residents to sign up for the organizations’ first 5K Run/Walk, planned for Sept. 8 at Noblitt Park.

The Blue Line 5K will go from Noblitt Park to Mill Race Park and back. Proceeds will benefit DARE, a police officer-led series of classrooms that teaches local sixth grade students how to resist peer pressure and live productive drug-free and violence-free lives.

The Women Behind the Badge group is made up of Columbus Police Department wives, fiancees, significant others and the female officers in the department who have come together as a group to support the department.

The Blue Line 5K will start at 8 a.m. with race-day registration from 7 to 7:30 a.m., at a cost of $20.

To pre-register online, go to signmeup.com/site/online-event-registration/127016. Cost is $25 with a shirt, and $20 without a shirt.

Packet pickup will begin at 7 a.m. the day of the race. A limited number of shirts may be available on race day. Race organizers said to be guaranteed a shirt, pre-register online by Friday.
