Local man arrested on warrant, drug-related charges

A local man was arrested on a warrant and drug-related charges after police spotted him walking downtown.

Officers saw Michael B. Purdue, 46, Columbus, walking near Eighth Street at 2:40 a.m. Saturday, said Lt. Matt Harris, Columbus Police Department spokesman.

Officers confirmed the warrant for Purdue’s arrest and took him into custody, Harris said. While searching him, they found a small amount of heroin and methamphetamine in his clothing, Harris said.

Purdue was arrested on preliminary charges of possession of methamphetamine, possession of heroin and a Bartholomew County warrant, jail officials said.
