Searchers find squirrel hunter in Monroe County

11:30 A.M. UPDATE:

After approximately 24 hours of searching, emergency crews have located George Kuntz.  Although thirsty and turned around, Kuntz is in good health.  He was reunited with his family shortly after 11 a.m.

ORIGINAL STORY:

MONROE COUNTY — Indiana Conservation Officers, Hoosier National Forest personnel and Perry-Clear Creek firefighters are currently looking for George Kuntz, 71, of Indianapolis in Hoosier National Forest in Monroe County.

Kuntz went squirrel hunting Sunday morning and did not return back to the campground. Concerned family members contacted DNR Law Enforcement, and a search was started.  The search is focused near Brook’s Cabin, where Kuntz’s truck was located.

The area was searched overnight by emergency personnel on foot, by Indiana State Police helicopter and Wayne Township Fire Department drone. The search continues today with those same elements.
