Ascension Fine Arts in Nashville is hosting “Sandy Whiskers: A Whimsical Menagerie” featuring work by Indiana artist Perry Couch.
The show will run tonight through Sept. 26, with an opening-night artist’s reception from 4 to 7 p.m. at the gallery, 61 W. Main St.
Perry received a degree in painting and drawing from Indiana University. Working on wood with acrylic and colored pencil, Perry creates whimsical animal caricatures such as cats who are pirates or surfers, pelicans, flamingos, geckos and more. If people bring in a photo, Couch will turn your pet into a pirate, a princess or another persona with custom art work.
The Village of Nashville will be hosting an Art Walk during the opening. Thirteen local galleries will be open late offering a variety of shows, refreshments, live music and wine tastings. For more information, call Ascension Fine Arts at 812-988-6675.
