HOT RODS AND ROCK & ROLL, 3 to 9 p.m. Sept. 15, downtown Columbus, Washington and Fourth streets, 106.1 The River’s annual free car show and free concert. No trophies awarded but lots of pride shown in a wide array of classic cars, trucks and motorcycles, new and old. The car show is free and begins at 3 p.m. and is followed by a free concert at 7 p.m. featuring “Rick K and the Allnighters.” Anyone attending is encouraged to bring their lawn chairs and maybe a light jacket. ARTIST-LED WORKSHOP: DESIGN AS A CREATIVE PROCESS WITH RENATA GRAW, 10:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., Sept. 21, Columbus Area Arts Council, 431 Sixth St. Explore the creative process of bookmaking with Chicago-based graphic designer Renata Graw. At this full-day workshop, Graw will lead participants in the process of book design, including laying out text and images by hand to create pages for a book made with the whole class. Each person will take home their own copy. Bring an object and a phrase about the object, and be prepared to tell the story of the object and the memories it triggers in them.
