Three injured after collision in county

Three people were injured in a two-vehicle accident at 8:11 a.m. Friday in the area of East County Road 100S and South County Road 525E.

Bartholomew County Sheriff’s Deputy Dylan Prather was sent to the accident and found two vehicles in a cornfield.

The driver of the blue Ford F150 truck, identified as Eric Elliott, 32, Columbus, was able to get out of his vehicle and speak with first responders before being taken to Columbus Regional Hospital.

The driver of a second vehicle, Jessica Rudd, 26, North Vernon, needed to be extricated from her vehicle and was taken to Columbus Regional Hospital before being transferred to Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis.

A passenger in Rudd’s blue Ford Escape, Leila Carnahan, 78, Westport, was also taken to Columbus Regional Hospital.

Investigators said it appeared that Elliott, who was traveling north on County Road 525E, did not stop and hit the driver’s side of the Ford, which was traveling west on County Road 100S.
