Shelby County deputies arrest Indianapolis man after shots fired call

FLAT ROCK — Shelby County Sheriff deputies arrested an Indianapolis man on several charges while investigating a report of shots fired in the area of downtown Flat Rock.

Deputies were told that a homeowner had chased a male that the homeowner saw coming out of his house, said Maj. Louie Koch, department spokesman.

The man ran to the south and southeast of the area to a farm lot, where he was caught by deputies, Koch said.

The man was identified as Cory Sowers, 29, Indianapolis, who was arrested on preliminary charges of burglary, robbery and warrants out of Marion County, Koch said.

During the investigation, deputies located a shell casing in the area where Sowers had been, Koch said.

The investigation is continuing and deputies are not releasing any further information at this time.
