Driver arrested after hit-and-run crash

A local driver was arrested after being involved in a vehicle crash and fleeing from the scene.

Columbus police were sent to the area of 17th Street and Hawcreek Avenue at 12:53 p.m. Tuesday about a hit and run crash, said Lt. Matt Harris, Columbus Police Department spokesman. Officers learned that the driver of a Chevrolet Suburban fled the crash scene after the accident.

Officers found the driver, Tracy J. Jordan, 49, Columbus, near 25th Street and Hawcreek Avenue a short time later, Harris said. While speaking with Jordan, officers noted that her eyes were bloodshot and glassy and her speech was slurred, Harris said.

After failing several field sobriety tests, Jordan was taken to Columbus Regional Hospital for a blood draw. She was later placed under arrest on preliminary charges of leaving the scene of a property-damage crash and operating a vehicle while intoxicated with a previous conviction.
