BOYS SOCCER

Columbus East scored on half of its shots on goal Tuesday night in a 3-0 win against Bloomington North.

Rick Sanchez netted the first goal off an assist from Leyton Erfmeier in the 21st minute. Jorge Neito scored off an assist from Branson Young in the 31st minute and Antony Espinosa connected off an assist from Chris Quisenberry in the 68th minute for the Olympians (4-5).

East outshot the Cougars 21-11, putting six shots on goal to four for Bloomington North. Zach Roberts played the first 70 minutes in goal and recorded two saves, and Cameron Burton had two saves over the final 10 minutes.

Jets edge Pirates

GREENSBURG — Justin Stafford scored two goals to lead Hauser to a 3-2 win against Greensburg.

Micah Walker added one goal for the Jets (3-2-1). Sam Johnson had an assist.

Hauser outshot the Pirates 22-10. Kameron Lawson posted seven saves, and Will Trotter had one save.

Olympians sweep Stars

BEDFORD — Columbus East had little trouble in rolling to a 25-14, 25-12, 25-16 Hoosier Hills Conference win at Bedford North Lawrence.

Madyson Foster led the Olympians (4-10, 3-1) with 27 assists and four aces. Rilee Jessee pounded 10 kills, CJ Clausen had two blocks and Keeleigh Kikendall notched 18 digs.

Also for East, Reece Whitehead recorded seven kills, and Allison Mack added six kills and 11 digs. Rilee Jessee tallied 10 digs, and Stella Kleffman served two aces.

Columbus Christian wins

Columbus Christian rolled to a 25-19, 25-21, 25-15 sweep of Bloomington Lighthouse.

Mayah Schundelmier recorded 15 kills, eight digs and four aces; and Madison Henderson had five kills, 12 digs and four aces and Hannah Stair tallied 33 assists, 10 digs and three aces to lead the Crusaders (11-1).

Also for Columbus Christian, Lauren Hunnicutt notched 10 kills and three aces. Michaela Schundelmier added four kills and seven digs, Kayla Jones had six digs and Ellie Ridder pounded five kills.

Eagle sets school record

NASHVILLE — Baelyn Koster broke the Brown County career digs record in the Eagles’ 25-18, 21-25, 25-17, 25-17 win against Hauser.

Hannah Johnson recorded 11 kills and two blocks, and Shelby Fugate had two blocks and 12 digs to led the Jets (8-8). Aunuka Wasil recorded 30 assists, Marnie Schwarzkopf had two blocks and Mary Branum served two aces.

Also for Hauser, Kylie Lock and Fugate each pounded eight kills, Lock and Melanie Taylor each notched 10 digs and Taylor added two assists. Wasil and Sophia Musallimi each served one ace.

Brown County improved to 9-2.

Bull Dogs nip Panthers

BLOOMINGTON — Columbus North coach Kendal Hammel tweaked his lineup a little, and the 14th-ranked Bull Dogs pulled out a 3-2 Conference Indiana win at Bloomington South.

Kevin Lin beat Daniel Borhi 6-4, 6-1 at No. 1 singles for the Bull Dogs (5-2, 2-1). Adam Saad and Nathan Lin downed Holt Henke and Dexter Wu-Corts 6-2, 6-1 at No. 1 doubles, and Joey Zhao and Matthew Liu topped Andy Chang and Calvin Prenkert 6-4, 6-2 at No. 2 doubles.

North’s Bhavey Jain fell to Marcel Borhi 6-3, 6-4 at No. 2 singles. Will King lost to Ethan Uhls 6-4, 6-2 at No. 3 singles.

Jets go the distance

WALDRON — Hauser pulled out four three-set matches to claim a 4-1 Mid-Hoosier Conference win at Waldron.

Ethan Wallace beat Parker Huffman 4-6, 6-2, 6-2 at No. 1 singles, and Keagan Miller downed Bryce Flippen 6-3, 3-6, 6-4 at No. 3 singles for the Jets (5-1, 3-1). Jacob Luken and Aaron Mee topped Dale Williams and Ian Carter 6-7 (9), 6-4, 6-3 at No. 1 doubles, and Tyler Moore and Caleb Hoover beat Cody Beal and Dakota Tillison 7-5, 4-6, 6-4 at No. 2 doubles,.

Hauser’s Sean Miller fell to Shawn Cole 6-1, 6-0 at No. 2 singles.

Pirates stop Panthers

NORTH VERNON — Greensburg won all five matches in straight sets in a 5-0 win at Jennings County.

Thomas Schuler fell to Trevor Foster 6-3, 6-1 at No. 1 singles, Kyle Tempest lost to Brett Stringer 6-0, 6-2 at No. 2 singles and Greyson Jackson fell to Charlie Pumphrey 6-2, 6-0 at No. 3 singles for the Panthers (1-6)

Jennings’ Weston Miller and Kent Biehle lost to Logan Smith and Ben Duerstock 6-3, 6-0 at No. 1 doubles. Wyatt St. John and Joe Kelley fell to Sam Bower and Isaac Tebbe 6-4, 6-4 at No. 2 doubles.

Owls blank Eagles

NASHVILLE — Brown County forced a third-set supertiebreaker at No. 3 singles, but couldn’t claim a victory in a 5-0 loss to Seymour.

Aaron McCann fell to Adam Berry 6-1, 6-2 at No. 1 singles, Chase Watson lost to Isaac Hardin 6-3, 6-3 at No. 2 singles and Josh Miller fell to Trey Hohenstreiter 6-1, 5-7, (10-6) at No. 3 singles for the Eagles (4-6).

Brown County’s Aiden Burt and Nolan Patterson lost to Brandon Hubbard and Will Rinehart 6-1, 6-1 at No. 1 doubles. John Oliver and Noah Cochran fell to Sam Schmidt and Andrew Levine 6-0, 6-2 at No. 2 doubles.

Braves topple Trinity

SEYMOUR — Brownstown Central dropped only 12 games in the five matches in a 5-0 win at Trinity Lutheran.

Jace Crockett fell to Ethan Carlin 6-2, 6-1 at No. 1 singles, Noah Voelker lost to Adam Pottschmidt 6-1, 6-2 at No. 2 singles and Pierce McCammon fell to Ethan Wischmeier 6-0, 6-0 at No. 3 singles for the Cougars (1-6).

Trinity’s Hunter Morgan and Caleb Gruenwald lost to Gunnar Zickler and Jackson Lahrman 6-1, 6-2 at No. 1 doubles. Nathanial Baughman and Nathan Rust fell to Reece Carlin and Max McClure 6-2, 6-1 at No. 2 doubles.

Panthers sweep invite

NORTH VERNON — Jennings County swept its Big Blue Invitational, with the Panther boys outscoring Batesville 26-37 and the Jennings girls Jennings outscoring Batesville 34-39.

Carter Leak won the boys race in 16 minutes, 14 seconds for 5,000 meters (3.1 miles). Alex Hendrix finished third in 16:29, while Lane Elsner was fifth (16:53), Drew Stroud seventh (17:02) and Gavin Hendrix ninth (17:17).

Emma Morrison won the girls race in 19:49. Ashley Heindel took fifth in 20:50, while Kaylee Ebinger was sixth, Patricia Henney eighth (21:27) and Elizabeth Wahlman 14th (22:29).

Hauser girls take 10th

WHITELAND — Hauser’s girls finished 10th in the Whiteland Invitational with 294 points. New Palestine won with a Perfect 15 score.

Tammy Essex led the Jets with a 69th-place finish in 25:43.52. Addi Jones took 78th in 26:27.47, while Lexi Tallent was 116th (30:16.22), Leah Joyce 121st (31:49.22) and Ninel Garcia-Sims 129th (37:09.47).

Hauser had two boys finishers. Ryan Ault took 15th in 18:38.14, and Emils Vigants 17th in 18:47.03.

GIRLS golf

Lancers fall to Woodmen

GREEENWOOD — Edinburgh came away with a 186-248 loss against Greenwood at Valle Vista.

Morgan Calhoun led the Lancers with a 51. Haven Link carded a 64, Brooke Link added a 65, Maddie McGaha had a 68, Emma Wade and Callie Hancock each shot 69 and Bethany Burton finished with a 70.

Chargers best Cougars

GREENSBURG — South Decatur fell to North Decatur 226-254 at North Branch.

Annie Gant led the Cougars with a 49. Katie Vandebur carded a 67, Kamrie Owens and Ashley Vannaman each shot 69 and Joy Tryon and 71.

GIRLS SOCCER

Warriors top Trinity

NEW ALBANY — Trinity Lutheran outshot Christian Academy of Indiana 14-12, but the Warriors claimed a 6-3 win.

Sidney Hoene netted two goals and an assist for the Cougars (4-5), and Flossie Cooper had the other goal. Genesis Munoz recorded eight saves.
