GIRLS GOLF

North wins; East third

GREENSBURG — One night after Columbus North and Columbus East met on the links at Otter Creek, the Olympians and Bull Dogs squared off again in a tri match at Greensburg to close the regular season.

The fifth-ranked Bull Dogs were once again victorious, shooting a 155 at Greensburg Country Club, site of Saturday’s sectional. The host Pirates finished second with a 183, and East had a 187.

The win allows North to finish 11-0 in dual and tri matches.

For the second straight night, the Bull Dogs’ Nathaly Munnicha won medalist honors with a 37, this time one shot ahead of teammate Annie Anderson. Alex Munnicha and Yestkia Nischol each shot 40 for North, while Ella Wilks carded a 48. Macy Euler added a 52 and Gwen Anderson had a 53.

Ellie Buntin led the Olympians with a 43. Harley Gant carded a 46, Kati Brunn added a 48, Lauren Steinwedel shot 50, Peyton Meier had a 54, Kristin Martinez finished with a 57 and Maddi Shoaf had a 58.

Eagles top Lancers

NASHVILLE — Brown County’s Ashley Masteller and Edinburgh’s Morgan Calhoun tied for medalist honors with 47s in the Eagles’ 204-239 win at Salt Creek.

Allison Stogsdill and Taylor Poling each shot 51 for Brown County. Ainslie Winton added a 55, and Abby Padgett had a 60.

Emma Wade carded a 62 for the Lancers. Haven Link added a 64, Bethany Burton had a 66 and Maddie McGaha, Brooke Link and Callie Hancock all shot 68.

Bull Dogs rout Falcons

INDIANAPOLIS — Class 3A No. 11 Columbus North was in complete control in a 10-0 win at Perry Meridian.

Tanner Johnson netted three goals, and Caroline Hollenkamp and Laura Henderson each added two for the Bull Dogs (7-1). Lauryn Whitley, Araina Ison and Alayne Davis all had one goal.

Kaylyn Bates recorded one save in posting the shutout in goal.

Pirates blank Olympians

GREENSBURG — Greensburg won all five matches in straight sets in handing Columbus East a 5-0 defeat.

Luke Miller fell to Trevor Foster at No. 1 singles, and Jackson Stevens lost to Brett Stringer 6-1, 6-0 at No. 2 singles, both by 6-1, 6-0 scores. Pranav Kumar fell to Charlie Pumphrey 6-3, 7-6 (4) at No. 3 singles for the Olympians (3-5).

East’s JT Kuhlman and Jalen Pleak lost to Logan Smith and Ben Duerstock 6-0, 6-0 at No. 1 doubles. Nathan Hatchett and Derek Heideman fell to Sam Bower and Isaac Tebbe 6-2, 6-1 at No. 2 doubles.

VOLLEYBALL

South Decatur prevails

GREENSBURG — South Decatur twice rallied from one-set deficits to pull out a 22-25, 25-22, 20-25, 25-20, 15-13 win against Madison Shawe.

Sam Goodfellow pounded 22 kills, Hannah Ballard recorded 16 assists, Brook Somers and Madison Owens each had a block assist, Karah Biddinger notched 21 digs and Whitnye Burton served four aces to lead the Cougars (5-9).

Also for South Decatur, Lana Bell tallied 11 kills, 15 digs and two aces, Burton had eight assists and 13 digs and Owens added 11 digs and two aces. Biddinger and Kalie Fry each served two aces.

Trinity sweeps Spartans

SHELBYVILLE — Trinity Lutheran rolled to its sixth consecutive win, a 25-17, 25-14, 25-18 triumph at Southwestern (Shelby).

Hannah Sabotin led the Cougars (14-8) with 16 kills and two aces. Bailey Reynolds recorded 32 assists, and Kamzi Gross had 21 digs.

Sabotin also added 11 digs.
