East finishes fourth in class at band invitational

The Columbus East Olympian Spirit marching band placed fourth in its class during a band invitational at Lawrence Central High School over the weekend.

The 70-member marching band competed against Connersville, Perry Meridian, Warren Central and Westfield high schools in the Scholastic Class A category. Marching bands from Warren Central, Perry Meridian and Westfield high schools placed first, second and third, respectively.

East also earned a second-place award for music during the competition, East band director David Rodgers said.

Columbus East band members will perform its entire show, "Yellow and Blue Makes Green," that blends the songs "Yellow" from Coldplay and "Rhapsody in Blue" from composer George Gershwin, this weekend during the Greenwood High School Invitational.
