5 things to know about the Mill Race Marathon

Here are five things people should know about the sixth annual Mill Race Marathon in Columbus.

1) TODAY’S EVENTS

Health and Fitness Expo 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. at The Commons, 300 Washington St.; Kids Fun Run 6 p.m. at Mill Race Park, Fifth and Lindsey streets, with 1,005 registered so far. Expo features 30 exhibitors with interactive displays, health information. Runners can register and pick up packets there. Information: millracemarathon.com/expo/. Fun Run has races of varying distances, from 0.31 miles for tots to 1.24 miles for fifth- and sixth-graders. 2) SATURDAY EVENTS

3,225 runners were registered for Saturday’s three races as of Thursday morning: 1,466 for the 5K; 1,515 for the half marathon; and 244 for the full marathon.

3) LAST-MINUTE REGISTRATION

Register for Saturday races in person 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. today at the Health and Fitness Expo or 5:30 to 6:30 a.m. Saturday at The Commons. Cost is $110 for the full marathon, $95 for the half marathon and $35 for the 5K.

4) MAJOR IMPACTS

Street closures, limited parking downtown Saturday from early morning through late afternoon. Other areas, north to the airport and east of downtown, also will see morning impacts course routes go through those areas. 5) WEATHER FORECAST

Cloudy Saturday with an afternoon high of 70. Temperatures in high 50s or low 60s when half and full marathons begin at 7:30 a.m., and 5K starts at 7:50 a.m. Temperatures forecast to reach mid to upper 60s by noon, according to AccuWeather.
