Beech Grove man arrested after foot chase

A Beech Grove man wanted on a felony narcotics dealing warrant was arrested after he attempted to flee on foot from Columbus police.

Columbus police were called to the 1900 block of Wallace Avenue at 7:50 a.m. Thursday about a disturbance at a residence, said Lt. Matt Harris, Columbus Police Department spokesman.

The officers located one of the individuals nearby who was identified as Matthew T. Werner, 29, Beech Grove, Harris said. Officers confirmed the felony warrant for his arrest out of Ripley County.

Werner fled on foot from the officers and officers used a Taser to apprehend him, Harris said.

Werner was arrested on a preliminary charge of resisting law enforcement and the felony warrant.
