Trikes race for homecoming bragging rights

Friday’s homecoming activities drew a marching band, cheerleaders and more than 500 people filling the stands at Max Andress Field at Columbus North High School — for tricycle races, hours before the football game.

These aren’t any old trike races, however, but ones that require competitors to pedal through a splash zone where their teammates are known to drench them with buckets of water. The races feature team rivalries and sibling rivalries, such as the one between brother and sister Servane and Matei Cloteaux, and clever team names such as Let’s Go Fly a Trike and Team Flower Petaling to Victory.

And as is North’s tradition, the homecoming king was announced — with North James Dwyer getting the highest number of votes this year.
