Local man arrested after domestic dispute

A local man was arrested after a domestic dispute in which he was accused of battering a female and taking her 2-year-old son.

Bartholomew County Sheriff Deputy Teancum Clark was sent to talk to the female, who alleged that Bradley Burgan, 37, 13015 W. County Road 50W, had battered her and stopped her from leaving the home, deputies said. Burgan was accused of then taking her 2-year-old son and leaving, deputies said.

Deputy Jessica Pendleton arrived to assist and learned the incident stemmed from an argument the night before that led to the physical altercation.

Deputies were with the woman when Burgan returned with the child. Burgan was arrested on preliminary charges of domestic battery in the presence of a minor and criminal confinement, deputies said.

He was being held in the Bartholomew County Jail in lieu of $15,000 bond, jail officials said.

The sheriff’s department asked that if domestic violence occurs, the victim should call 911 or the department at 812-379-1689.
