Ricker’s selling Indiana convenience stores

Indianapolis Business Journal

Ricker Oil Co. Inc., which owns 56 central Indiana Ricker’s convenience stores and gas stations including two in Columbus, will be sold to supermarket chain Giant Eagle, based in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.

Ricker’s Chairman Jay Ricker said a purchase agreement for his 39-year-old, Anderson-based company is in place and the deal is expected to close by the end of the month.

The Ricker’s stores in Columbus are at 1711 25th St. and at 3545 W. 450 S, near Interstate 65 at the Walesboro exit.

The 25th Street location is one of two Indiana Ricker’s stores with small restaurant operations that were able to sell cold beer until state lawmakers closed a loophole earlier this year. The other location is in Sheridan.
