Shelbyville legal secretary accused of felonies in forgery case

SHELBYVILLEA 36-year-old Shelbyville woman has been arrested by the Indiana State Police following an investigation looking into allegations of forgery, fraud and theft.

Indiana State Police said the investigation began Aug. 15 when a victim contacted the Indiana State Police accusing Heather Brant, a legal secretary at Lishner Law, of producing fraudulent court documents. During the course of the investigation detectives determined Brant allegedly created false court documents and forged signatures of judges, court clerks and prosecutors. She is also accused of theft from the law firm where she was employed. The Shelby County Prosecutor’s Office issued an arrest warrant for Brant and she subsequently turned herself into detectives Sept. 25th.

She is charged with:

  • Eight counts of forgery, a level 6 Felony
  • Two counts of obstruction of justice, a Level 6 Felony
  • One count of theft, a Level 5 Felony
  • One count of identity deception, a Level 5 Felony
  • One count of fraud on a financial institution, a Level 5 Felony

Indiana State Police turned the information over to the Shelby County Prosecutor’s Office which is handling the case.
