Fall weather welcomes big Hope Heritage Days crowd

HOPE, Ind. — Beautiful fall weather brought thousands out Saturday to the 51st Hope Heritage Days on the Hope Town Square

With midday temperatures in the low 70s, the three-day festival was busy Saturday with family friendly activities such as pony rides at the Yellow Trail Pioneer Village, hungry guests visiting 17 food booths sprinkled around the square, shoppers at dozens of craft booths and competition such as the inaugural baking contest.

Winner of the baking contest was Lisa Webster of Hope. Her carrot cake was the Best of Show choice of judges Saturday morning.

The festival concludes Sunday, operating 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Thousands will line the streets of Hope for the 2:30 p.m. parade, one of the largest in the area with more than 100 units. Sunday’s musical lineup is Cottonpatch at noon and Night Owl Country Band at 3:30 p.m.

See Monday’s Republic for an in-depth recap of the festival.
