Month devoted to monster: Get your fill of ‘Frankenstein’ in October

Staff Reports

The Bartholomew County Public Library has been awarded a Community Read grant of $1,000 from Indiana Humanities to participate in a statewide reading program now underway of the classic novel “Frankenstein” by Mary Shelley.

In addition, the Hope Branch Library received a smaller grant to host a Frankenstein-related speaker.

More than 60 other communities will be reading the “Frankenstein” book as part of One State/One Story: Frankenstein.

People still can join the Community Book Read for adults and teens by checking out a copy of the book at the library or purchasing one from various sources.

“Frankenstein” tells the story of a young scientist who created a grotesque living creature through a scientific experiment and was horrified by what he had made.
