North band receives gold award at regional

The Columbus North High School marching band received a gold award at the Indiana State School Music Association regional on Saturday.

The Sound of North competed in the regional competition at Center Grove High School in Open Class A and was among 14 bands in that division. It plans to compete at the Bands of America Super Regional, which is scheduled for Friday and Saturday at Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis.

North will compete at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.

The Columbus East High School marching band will also perform Saturday during the ISSMA scholastic finals at Lawrence Central High School. The Olympian Spirit marching band is slated to compete at 8:14 p.m. in Scholastic Class A against 15 other bands from around the state.
