• candidates on both sides who promptly remove their political signs

• the Democratic Party event Sunday evening, which had good food and good music.

• those hardworking workers who blacktopped Lowell Road.

• Frank at Bayles Fabric & Upholstery for fixing the zipper on the cushion cover.

• the man in the Edinburgh JayC Food Store express lane at 5:15 p.m. Tuesday for paying it forward with your payment on my purchase, which made me cry in happiness.

• President Trump, who was the catalyst for the large nationwide voter turnout for this midterm election.

• County Clerk Jay Phelps and staff for taking time to teach Columbuddies about voting and how voting machines work so on Election Day we could be active, successful voters.

• Tower 2 Columbus Regional Hospital nurse Brenda for going above and beyond and for the excellent care for Max, from the Jacobuses.

• Art’s Cleaners for the wonderful job they did cleaning my uniform so I could have it for Veterans Day, and for telling me the bill was paid when it was done.

• everyone who voted, worked at the polls or ran for office, because that’s what democracy is all about.

• Dave Smiley for all his great work at the Four Seasons, from Jim.

• whoever turned in the keys at the Tayorsville Post Office.

• Naomi Pyle for an outstanding job of directing “The Hallelujah Girls” — and kudos to the great cast of actors; the show was hilarious and the food at Willow Leaves was outstanding.

Onions to …

• Republicans running on protecting pre-existing conditions when for eight years and counting they have been trying to repeal the Affordable Care Act, which already protects them.

• people who make a big deal about the shirt color someone is wearing because they’re running for office.

• people who bash our president.

• people who think that our president isn’t the best president ever.

• people who don’t realize how well the county is doing, and only focus on the negative.

• the business for allowing a second notice of billing to be sent after the check has already cleared.

• the mechanic who doesn’t give you a warranty for the work.

• candidates that run as Republicans but they are actually Democrats.

• the large, striped tiger cat that comes in my yard and attacks my cat.

• the people who still have their Halloween stuff on the porch.

• the red Dodge that parks the wrong way every day in the high school pick-up.
