Edinburgh man arrested after home break-in

An Edinburgh man was arrested after he was accused of breaking into a home.

Bartholomew County Sheriff deputies were sent to the 7900 block of North Harvest Lane at 5:11 a.m. Saturday about a possible break-in, deputies said.

Sgt. Kris Weisner saw an open side garage door with damage to the lock and items strewn across the floor.

The homeowner told Weisner that he had also heard noises in an upstairs bedroom at the home, deputies said. When checking the bedroom, deputies found Jose M. Irizarry Rivera, 34, of 509 S. Pleasant St., Edinburgh, asleep on the floor.

Rivera was arrested on six pending Bartholomew County warrants and a preliminary charge of residential entry, deputies said.

He is being held in the Bartholomew County Jail without bond, jail officials said.
