Volleyball players recognized, will play in All-Star Games

Two local volleyball players have been selected for this year’s North-South Junior All-Star Game, which will be at 1 p.m. Sunday at Lawrence North.

Columbus East junior Allison Mack and Trinity Lutheran junior Hannah Sabotin made the South squad following Sunday’s tryout at East.

"It’s really exciting," Mack said. "At first, I didn’t know I was going to make it because I was one of the last ones called. (Being selected) definitely gives me a boost of confidence, and during the game, it’ll be really fun to play with high-level players."

Sabotin, a Columbus resident, will be joined by two of her club volleyball teammates on the South team.

"Now, we’re playing on the All-Star team together, and we’re playing club together, so it’s a good start to the (club) season," Sabotin said. "I’m excited. It’s an honor to be chosen."

Meanwhile, Trinity senior Abby Schult was selected to the South Class A-2A Senior All-Star squad. That team will play the North Class A-2A Senior team at around 2:30 p.m., prior to a battle between 3A-4A Seniors from the North and South.
