Duke continues work to restore power to 1,500 customers locally

Duke Energy crews are continuing to work to restore power to 1,500 customers in Bartholomew County and 84 customers in Brown County.

The utility has called in extra crews and are addressing a few remaining
“events” that resulted in power disruptions, some in areas affecting only two or three homes in one location, said Chip Orben, Duke Energy government and community relations manager.

Bartholomew County REMC is reporting only one customer still without power in Jackson Township.

As of 10 p.m. last night, Duke had 24,115 customers without electricity in Indiana.

Local emergency management officials said 3/10ths of an inch of ice coated Columbus and Bartholomew County on Wednesday night into Thursday, causing trees and limbs to fall on power lines and disrupting power for thousands of customers.
