Bible Church of Columbus — Pastor Dave Marvin continues his series of messages, “Abundant Life: Straight Talk from Jesus,” at the 10 a.m. Sunday service, when worshipers will discuss the abundant life that Jesus came to give to those who choose to follow Him.

Life Group Bible Studies are available at 8:30 a.m. and 6 p.m. Sunday. The Children’s Ministries through grade 6 begin at 9:45 a.m. Teen Ministry will meet at 5:30 p.m. Sunday.

Additional Life Group Bible studies are available throughout the week.

Central Heights Church of God — Praise and the message will be presented by Pastor Jason Johnson at 10:30 a.m. at the church, 3151 Sharon Lane, Columbus. Sunday school is at 9:30 a.m.

After Sunday’s service, there will be a Thanksgiving pitch-in and special music by Night Owl country band.

First Presbyterian — Worship begins at 9:30 a.m. at the church, 512 Seventh St., Columbus. This worship is Celebration Sunday, the culmination of the Annual Stewardship Campaign. The church will pledge itself and the tithes to God for the coming year. The sermon will be based on selections from the prophet Isaiah 2, 36 and 37 painting a picture of God’s work, “Swords and Plowshares.” All are welcome to the Celebration Sunday brunch in the gym immediately after the service.

Infant and toddler care is available from 9:15 a.m. to noon Sunday.

The men’s and women’s support groups meet at 7 a.m. Fridays, and a second men’s support group of working-age men meets every Monday at 6:15 a.m.

People in the community in need of a meal are invited to Hot Meals offered 5 p.m. Friday, with entry through the glass doors on Franklin Street.

The church is LGBTQ-friendly, open and affirming to all.

First United Methodist — At Sunday’s 9 a.m. traditional service and the 11 a.m. celebration service, the Rev. Howard Boles will deliver the message, “A Fashionable Faith,” at the church, 618 Eighth St., Columbus. The Scripture will be Mark 12:38-44. Sunday school for all ages begins at 10:10 a.m.

Childcare is available during both services.

Flintwood Wesleyan — The Amplify non-traditional service is 9 a.m. Sunday and Sunday School classes are at 10 a.m. The Well traditional service is at 11 a.m. Both Amplify and The Well are held in the main sanctuary. The Prayer Team will meet at 8 a.m. Sunday School classes meet in their regular rooms at the church, located at 5300 E. 25th St., Columbus.

“In The Beginning …,” a small-group Bible study, will meet at 6:30 Tuesday in the Friendship Center. It is studying the book of Genesis.

Wednesday activities begin with supper at 5:30 p.m. followed by GLOW at 6:15 p.m. The Prayer Team will meet at 6:15 p.m. in The Prayer Room. Youth meets at 6:30 p.m. and Adult Bible study will meet at 7 p.m. in the Sanctuary.

Old Union United Church of Christ — Sunday’s 10 a.m. sermon, “The Way of Faithfulness,” marks the 26th Sunday after Pentecost with text from 1 Samuel 1:4-20, 2:1-10; Hebrews 10:11-14,19-25; and Mark 13:1-8.

The church is located at 12703 N. County Road 50W, Edinburgh.

Sunday school will begin at 9 a.m. followed by fellowship at 9:40 a.m.

Wednesday Bible study will resume at 6 p.m. Wednesday.

Unitarian Universalist Congregation of Columbus — At 10:30 a.m. Sunday, the Rev. Nic Cable and Nancy Olson will present the sermon, “Henry’s Night: A multi-generational service of Mystery and Adventure.” They will discuss how the darkness of the night brings a sense of mystery and curiosity of the world. On this multi-generational Sunday, the church will go on a spiritual adventure into the beauty and love that can be found in the natural world.

Westside Community — Pastor Robert Vester will lead the service Sunday at the church, on the corner of State Road 46 West and Tipton Lakes Boulevard, Columbus. The children’s program through grade 6 meets at 10 a.m.

The Ruby Tuesday Women’s Bible Study has begun a new study, “The Joy of Encouragement,” by David Jeremiah. This group meets from 10 to 11:15 a.m. each Tuesday at the church.

Events

Flintwood Wesleyan training program — The first Discipleship Training Program class begins at 9:30 a.m. today at the church, 5300 E. 25th St., Columbus. The class will be in Curry Hall. This class is a New Testament elective on Philippians and will be taught by the Rev. Glenn Black.

The traditional Thanksgiving Dinner will be today, following the Well traditional service. The church will furnish the meat and those who attend can contribute their favorite holiday side dish. A sign-up sheet in the foyer closer will be posted to the event. All evening activities will be dismissed.

First United Methodist — From 9 a.m. to noon today, the 28th annual Cookie Walk will take place at First United Methodist. Create a box of decorated and specialty cookies sold by the pound and add peanut brittle, fudge, candy, divinity and more, including allergy friendly and vegan. All proceeds go to support local, state and international missions.

At 6 p.m. on Monday, Pastor Howard Boles will lead a discussion for the monthly book club in the Blue Room. The group will discuss the book, and give thanks for the blessings received both large and small during the Thanksgiving season.
