Conservation officers investigating black bear sighting

NEW ALBANY — Indiana Conservation Officers are investigating a potential back bear sighting after a motor vehicle accident involving a large animal on Interstate 64 near mile marker 121 at 8 p.m. Sunday.

Descriptions from the driver and one other witness  led officers to search for the bear. Darkness and rugged, brushy terrain in the area limited the search.

Officers will be checking the area today for additional clues to positively identify the animal involved.

Officers with the New Albany Police Department also assisted with the search at the scene.
