First Financial Bank has increased its donation to the United Way of Bartholomew County this year by nearly 50 percent, a spokesperson said.
First Financial’s local donations this year exceeded $28,000, said Annie Efkeman, spokeswoman for the Ohio-based banking company.
That total includes donations by bank associates, as well as a company match, she said.
The prior year, First Financial donated about $19,000 to the local United Way, she said.
The company increased its employment level in Bartholomew County with an April 1 merger with Greensburg-based MainSource Bank. First Financial operates four branches in Columbus and one each in Hope and the Edinburgh/Taylorsville area.
