Local man arrested after standoff with SWAT team

A local man was arrested after a short standoff with Columbus police.

Officers were sent to a residence in the 1900 block of Vinewood Drive at 8:25 p.m. Monday about a man who had threatened another person inside the home with a firearm, said Lt. Matt Harris, Columbus Police Department spokesman.

After a short standoff with officers, the SWAT team was activated along with crisis negotiators who were sent to the residence, Harris said.

The negotiators made contact with Austin J. Corazzin, 36, Columbus, who was inside the home, Harris said. Corazzin left the house a short time later and was arrested on preliminary charges of intimidation with a deadly weapon, criminal confinement and interference with reporting of a crime, Harris said.

He was being held in the Bartholomew County Jail on a 48-hour hold after the incident, Harris said.
