A Bartholomew County Jail inmate has been charged with Level 5 felony battery causing serious bodily injury after an incident in the jail.
Bartholomew County Sheriff’s deputies said Angelito C. Mercado, 40, is accused of attacking another inmate and breaking the inmate’s nose at 8:30 p.m. Nov. 8 in the jail.
Mercado was being held in jail on original charges of a probation violation and a Bartholomew County warrant and was awaiting transfer to the Indiana Department of Corrections at the time of the incident, deputies said.
