Donner wins November invitational

Donner Swim Club won the the Donner November Invitational last month at Columbus North High School.

Leading the 8-and-under swimmers for Donner was Levi Bense with 108 points. He placed first in the 50 backstroke and 25 breaststroke and second in the 50 backstroke, 25 butterfly, 50 butterfly and 50 freestyle.

Xavier Zhang finished first in the 50 backstroke, 25 breaststroke, 25 butterfly and 50 freestyle. Luiza Loureiro took ninth in the 25 freestyle. Andrew Mohs was second in the 25 breaststroke.

Vibha Nagiligari placed third in the 25 freestyle. Grace Ning took fourth in the 25 breaststroke and 12th in the 25 freestyle. Laura Peda was fourth in the 25 freestyle.

Macey Rees finished 10th in the 50 freestyle, 14th in the 25 freestyle and 16th in the 50 backstroke. Aashka Shah took ninth in the 50 freestyle and 11th in the 50 backstroke. Ameya Singh was 11th in the 25 freestyle.

Maria Fernanda Valencia Messe placed fifth in the 25 freestyle. Felix Valerdi took second in the 25 freestyle and third in the 25 butterfly and 50 freestyle. Shreyas Yepuri was sixth in the 25 freestyle and Aditi Zope finished second in the 25 freestyle.

In the 9-10 age group, Ainsley Sherlock scored 153 points by placing first in the 50 freestyle, 100 freestyle and 200 freestyle, 50 breaststroke, 100 breaststroke and 200 individual medley; second in the 50 butterfly and third in the 50 backstroke. Mridula Muthukumaran scored 105 points, placing first in the 100 backstroke, fourth in the 50 backstroke and 50 butterfly; fifth in the 50 freestyle, 100 freestyle and 200 IM and sixth in the 50 breaststroke.

Abby Proffitt scored 102 points, placing third in the 200 IM and 200 freestyle; fourth in the 50 freestyle and 100 freestyle; fifth in the 50 breaststroke and sixth in the 50 backstroke, 50 butterfly and 50 breastroke. Kiara Athaide took 14th in the 50 butterfly and 16th in the 50 backstroke. Arya Dave placed first in the 100 butterfly, third in the 100 breaststroke, fifth in the 50 butterfly and 100 backstroke and seventh in the 50 freestyle.

Joseph Day finished 13th in the 100 freestyle. Hudson Eicher took fifth in the 100 freestyle, eighth in the 50 backstroke, ninth in the 50 freestyle and 10th in the 100 backstroke. Nitya Garg was sixth in the 100 breaststroke, eighth in the 50 butterfly, ninth in the 100 freestyle and 12th in the 50 backstroke.

Sophie Graham placed 15th in the 50 freestyle. James HE took 13th in the 50 backstroke. Morgan Hollinger was seventh in the 50 freestyle and eighth in the 50 backstroke.

Jeanette Larsen finished 12th in the 50 breaststroke, 13th in the 50 freestyle and 50 butterfly and 15th in the 50 backstroke. Saanvi Lella took 11th in the 50 breaststroke, 12 th in the 50 butterfly and 14th in the 50 freestyle and 50 backstroke. Aarush Mahato was 10th in the 50 breastroke, 11th in the 50 backstroke and 14th in the 50 freestyle.

Pranav Nalole placed third in the 50 breaststroke and 50 freestyle; fourth in the 100 freestyle, 50 backstroke and 50 butterfly and eighth in the 100 backstroke. Shelby Nay took fifth in the 100 backstroke and 50 freestyle. Addy Newman was ninth in the 100 backstroke and 13th in the 50 breastroke.

Dereck Prieto Marina finished fifth in the 50 breaststroke and sixth in the 50 freestyle. Cora Tregoning took third in the 100 backstroke, seventh in the 50 breaststgroke and 100 breaststroke, ninth in the 50 freestyle, 10th in the 100 freestyle and 11th in the 50 backstroke and 50 butterfly. Luis Valerdi was fourth in the 200 freestyle, sixth in the 50 breasstroke and 100 backstroke and 15th in the 50 freestyle. Avika Veldandi placed ninth in the 50 butterfly, 10th in the 50 freestyle and 50 breaststroke, 11th in the 100 freestyle and 13th in the 50 backstroke.

Donner’s 11-12 age group was lead by Isaac Proffitt, who scored 129 points and Brock Smith who scored 109. On the 11-12 girls side, Alison Clauss lead the team with 85 points, and Nicole Brault added 84.

Clauss finished second in the 200 IM, fourth in the 50 backstroke, fifth in the 100 backstroke and sixth in the 50 freestyle, 100 freestyle and 50 breastroke. Brault took second in the 100 butterfly, sixth in the 100 backstroke, eighth in the 50 backstroke and 100 breastroke, ninth in the 50 butterfly and 50 breastroke and 10th in the 100 and 200 freestyles.

Proffitt placed first in the 100 backstroke, second in the 100 freestyle, 500 freestyle and 50 backstroke; third in the 50 butterfly and 200 IM and sixth in the 50 breaststroke and 50 freestyle. Smith was third in the 500 freestyle; fourth in the 50 butterfly and 100 breaststroke; fifth in the 50 breaststroke, 100 backstroke and 200 IM; seventh in the 100 freestyle and ninth in the 50 freestyle.

Ava Andrews finished 12th in the 50 breaststroke. Nicholas Bowers took 10th in the 50 butterfly and 14 th in the 100 freestyle. Andrew Brown was 11th in the 100 freestyle, 13th in the 50 breaststroke and 14th in the 50 freestyle.

Hannah Dean placed fifth n the 200 IM, 11th in the 100 backstroke, 13th in the 50 freestyle and 14 th in the 50 backstroke. Conner Hoffman took fourth in the 50 breastroke, fifth in the 100 breaststroke, eighth in the 100 freestyle and 11th in the 50 freestyle. Ishna Kesti was fifth in the 50 breaststroke, sixth in the 100 breaststroke, 12th in the 100 backstroke and 15th in the 50 freestyle and 100 freestyle.

Akul Lall finished 16th in the 50 freestyle. Markus Larsen took eighth in the 50 backstroke, ninth in the 50 butterfly, 10th in the 100 breastroke and 13th in the 100 freestyle. Rishabh Rajesh was 10th in the 50 backstroke, 11th in the 100 breastroke and 15th in the 50 breaststroke.

Steven Sun placed ninth in the 100 breaststroke and 10th in the 100 freestyle. Emma Swenson took seventh in the 50 breaststroke and 100 breaststroke, 12th in the 50 butterfly, 14th in the 100 freestyle and 16th in the 50 freestyle. Vardhan Yepuri took ninth in the 50 backstroke, 11th in the 50 butterfly, and 14 th in the 50 breastroke.

The 13-14 age group was paced by Paige Maddox with 69 points and David Fry with 83 points. Maddox finished fourth in the 200 backstroke, fifth in the 100 backstroke, sixth in the 200 freestyle and 1,000 freestyle and 12th in the 50 freestyle. Fry took fifth in the 100 backstroke and 200 breaststroke, sixth in the 100 breaststroke and 200 backstroke, eighth in the 100 butterfly and ninth in the 50 freestyle and 100 freestyle.

Lauren Brault placed third in the 200 breaststroke, sixth in the 200 backstroke, ninth in the 200 freestyle and 100 backstroke, 12th in the 500 freestyle and 100 breaststroke and 13th in the 100 freestyle. Naomi Gambrel took 14 th in the 100 backstroke. Josie Havenaar was seventh in the 100 butterfly, eighth in the 200 backstroke, ninth in the 100 breaststroke, 10th in the 100 backstroke and 200 freestyle, 14th in the 50 freestyle and 15th in the 100 freestyle.

Andrei Minut finished ninth in the 200 breaststroke, 10th in the 100 breaststroke, 12th in the 100 backstroke, 13th in the 100 freestyle and 15th in the 50 freestyle. Vianney Salazar Ruiz took 14th in the 100 breaststroke.

The 15-and-over age group was lead by Christopher Lee who scored 123 points, and Betsy King, who scored 118.5. King placed first in the 50 freestyle, 100 freestyle, 200 freestyle, 100 butterfly, 400 IM and 100 breaststroke. Lee placed first in the 100 backstroke, 200 backstroke and 50 freestyle; second in the 200 freestyle, third in the 100 freestyle and 100 breaststroke and fifth in the 100 butterfly.

Karlie Brown placed first in the 200 butterfly, fourth in the 100 butterfly, fifth in the 200 freestyle and ninth in the 50 freestyle and 100 freestyle. Kalissa Gambrel took 12th in the 100 backstroke. Riddhi Garg was second in the 1,000 freestyle, third in the 500 freestyle and 100 backstroke, fifth in the 50 freestyle and seventh in the 100 freestyle and 50 freestyle.

Matthew Goble finished sixth in the 100 breaststroke, eighth in the 50 butterfly, ninth in the 100 freestyle and 12th in the 50 backstroke. Thomas Luehrmann took seventh in the 200 breaststroke, eighth in the 200 backstroke, ninth in the 200 freestyle, 10th in the 500 freestyle, 13th in the 100 backstroke, 14th in the 100 freestyle and 16th in the 50 freestyle.

Aidan McAlister placed first in the 1,000 freestyle, second in the 500 freestyle, fourth in the 100 backstroke, fifth in the 200 backstroke and 200 freestyle, eighth in the 100 freestyle and 1 th in the 50 freestyle. Vaikhari Nalole took second in the 100 backstroke and 200 backstroke, eighth in the 50 freestyle and 11th in the 100 freestyle. Paige Sherlock was sixth in the 100 breaststroke, seventh in the 500 freestyle, eighth in the 100 backstroke and 10th in the 50 freestyle.

Zach Statler finished eighth in the 100 backstroke and 10th in the 50 freestyle. Jack Tregoning took ninth in the 200 backstroke and 500 freestyle, eighth in the 200 breastroke and 200 freestyle, 12th in the 100 breastroke and 15th in the 100 freestyle and 100 backstroke. Eden Zaborowski was fourth in the 200 breaststroke, 10th in the 100 breaststroke and 16th in the 100 freestyle and 100 breaststroke.

Club Olympia competes

Twenty-four Club Olympia swimmers competed in the Indiana Swim Club Winter Invitational last weekend in Bloomington.

Nalanie Cortez led the team, swimming in five events and scoring 100 points. She was first in the 13-14-year-old girls 100 freestyle, 500 freestyle, 100 backstroke, 100 butterfly and 200 breaststroke. Misha Machavariani swam in six events and scored 91 points, finishing in third in the 11-12 boys 200 individual medley and 500 freestyle, fourth in the 50 butterfly, 100 backstroke and 100 breaststroke and fifth in the 100 freestyle.

Daniella Preston scored 74 points in her six 11-12 girls events, finishing in fourth in the 500 freestyle, fifth in the 200 IM and 100 backstroke, sixth in the 100 breaststroke, and ninth in the 50 butterfly and 100 freestyle. Tony Machavariani, 6, scored 70 points in his four 8-and-under boys events, placing first in the 25 backstroke, second in the 50 freestyle and 100 freestyle and third in the 25 butterfly.

Joshua Pendleton scored 60 points by winning the 8-and-under boys 50 freestyle, 100 freestyle and 25 butterfly. Evan Patterson scored 57 points by winning the boys Open 200 IM and 100 freestyle and getting second in the 100 backstroke.

Pratt Badve placed third in the 13-14 boys 100 backstroke and 200 breaststroke, sixth in the 200 IM and ninth in the 100 freestyle to score 54 points. Cole Ehara swam in four 13-14 Boys events to score 52 points, taking fourth in the 200 IM, sixth in the 100 freestyle and seventh in the 100 backstroke and 200 breaststroke.

Brady Beyer swam in two 13-14 boys events, placing first in the 100 backstroke and third in the 200 freestyle, to score 36 points. Arjun Bhadoria also scored 36 points, placing sixth in the 100 butterfly, eighth in the 200 IM, 10th in the 100 backstroke, and 12th in the 100 freestyle.

Brooklyn Pendleton scored 34 points in four 10-and-under girls races, finishing in sixth in the 50 backstroke and 50 butterfly, 11th in the 100 IM, and 15th in the 100 Freestyle. Shreyan Kulkarni, 6, scored 32 points in his four 8-and-under boys events, placing fourth in the 100 freestyle, 10th in the 25 butterfly, 11th in the 50 freestyle, and 13th in the 25 backstroke. Jahnavi Venugopal scored 28 points, placing second in the 8-and-under girls 100 IM, 11th in the 25 butterfly, 12th in the 50 freestyle and 17th in the 25 backstroke.

Matt Stuckwisch placed ninth in the Boys Open 100 freestyle and 100 backstroke to score 18 points. Zoie Chandelkar scored 16 points in the 10-and-under girls events by finishing in 10th in the 100 IM, 12th in the 50 butterfly, 14th in the 50 backstroke and 16th in the 100 freestyle.

Avi Banerjee, 6, scored 7 points in the 8-and-under boys 25 backstroke by placing 10th and also placed 18th in the 50 freestyle. Ethan Meyers placed 13th in the Boys Open 100 backstroke and 15th in the 200 IM to score 6 points. He also placed 22nd in the 100 freestyle. Aidan Castillo scored two points by placing 16th in the 11-12 boys 50 butterfly and 100 freestyle and also finished 19th in the 100 backstroke and 23rd in the 100 breaststroke.

Jay Venugopal placed 32nd in the 11-12 boys 100 backstroke and 100 breaststroke and was 36th in the 100 freestyle. Lovely Panda was 20th in the girls 10-and-under 100 IM, 24th in the 50 butterfly, 29th in the 100 freestyle and 33rd in the 50 backstroke.

Sanaa Kulkarni was 18th in the 10-and-under girls 100 IM, 19th in the 50 butterfly and 100 freestyle and 29th in the 50 backstroke. Nandini Kondhare was 23rd in the 10-and-under girls 100 IM, 27th in the 50 backstroke, 28th in the 50 butterfly and 30th in the 100 freestyle. Advika Badve was 19th in the 10-and-under girls 100 breaststroke and 100 IM, 28th in the 50 backstroke and 32nd in the 100 freestyle.

Swimming unattached during their 120-day transfer periods were Connelly Furnish and Grier Lane, both 9, and competing in the 10-and-under firls events. Furnish finished fourth in the 100 breaststroke, sixth in the 100 IM, seventh in the 100 freestyle and 11th in the 50 backstroke, which would have added 46 points to Club Olympia’s total. Grier finished 16th in the 50 butterfly to score one point and also was 17th in the 100 IM, 23rd in the 100 freestyle and 24th in the 50 backstroke.

Club Olympia’s 10-and-under girls 200 medley relay team of Chandelkar, Kulkarni, Pendleton and Panda finished third. An exhibition relay also competed, which placed fifth, but didn’t count for points or awards. Swimming on that relay were Kondhare, Furnish, Lane and Badve.

The 10-and-under boys 200 medley relay team of Banerjee, Machavariani, Pendleton and Kulkarni placed third. The 13-14 boys 200 Medley Relay won their event with Badve, Beyer, Ehara and Bhadoria.

BROOMBALL

Rockpile, MOR stay perfect

The Rockpile and Monsters of Rock each ran their records to 3-0 with victories last week.

The Rockpile beat Our Name Is Earl 4-2. Matt Street scored two goals for Rockpile, while Tyler Houchin and Stephanie Pigneri each added one. Nick Lewis and Ryan Ingalls scored for Earl.

Monsters of Rock downed Yoopers 4-1 behind two goals from Zach Henderson and one each from Rob Jones and Tyler Rash. Kyle Shafer scored the Yoopers goal.

Scott Herron scored three goals to lead CCA Kutters to a 6-2 win against Toyota Tsunamis. Jacob Hollingsworth added two goals, and Tim Walton had one for Kutters. Dalton McNealy and Greg McNealy scored for Tsunamis.

Hansons blanked Slappin’ Balls 5-0. Rahul Bhardwaj netted two goals for Hansons, while Keith Henry, John Lane and Dave VanValkenburg all added one.

BASKETBALL

Central wins four times

The Central seventh-grade boys went 4-0 last week to improve to 9-2 on the season.

The Chargers beat John Wooden Middle School 44-21 and Bedford 46-39 to win the Bloomington Tri-North Invitational title. Connor Hensley scored 19 points, and Phillip McKinley added 10 against Wooden. Hensley poured in 25 against Bedford.

Central beat Sunman-Dearborn 43-24 on Wednesday behind 20 points from Hensley and 11 from McKinley. On Thursday, the Chargers beat St. Peter’s 46-25 with Hensley scoring 14 and McKinley 12.

Jennings 8th wins tourney

The Jennings County eighth-grade boys White team beat Brownstown Central 38-16 and Silver Creek 49-45 to win the Silver Creek Tournament.

Keegan Manowitz and Jacob Scruggs each scored 10 points against Brownstown. Manowitz had 31 and Lane Zohrlaut 10 against Silver Creek.

The Panthers (12-1) took their first loss of the season Thursday, a 41-38 setback against Shawswick. Manowitz led Jennings with 15 points, and Owen Law added 12.

The Jennings seventh-grade boys White team beat Brownstown 34-29 and fell to Silver Creek 49-33 in the Silver Creek tourney. Carter Kent scored 15 against Brownstown and 17 against Silver Creek, and Cole Sigler added 11 against Silver Creek.

The Panthers (11-1) came back to beat Shawswick 44-33. Kent scored 20 points, and Sigler added 15.

The Jennings seventh-grade Blue team beat Edinburgh 42-28. Dylan Harrison led the Panthers (5-4) with 15 points.

The Jennings eighth-grade Blue squad fell to Edinburgh 52-43. Skyler Lewis led the Panthers (4-5) with 17 points.
