Multi-vehicle accident results in lane closures on I-65 northbound

1:30 p.m. update: The northbound lanes of I-65 have reopened following the accident being cleared at the 58.5 mile marker, according to the Bartholomew County Sheriff’s Department.

Indiana State Police have closed the northbound lanes of Interstate 65 near the 55 mile marker as first responders head to the scene of a three-vehicle crash at the 58.5 mile marker.

The accident is about 10 miles south of the Columbus exit.

Several fire departments have been sent to the scene as one of the vehicles is reportedly on fire. Fire extinguishers are being used at the scene. First responders have also requested availability for Lifeline helicopter.
