Chargers slip past Jets

HOPE — Hauser’s comeback attempt came up a little short Friday night in a 61-56 Mid-Hoosier Conference loss to North Decatur.

The Jets trailed by 13 points at halftime and after three quarters. They outscored the Chargers 23-15 in the final period, but North Decatur held on.

Jackson Paradise led the Jets (5-6, 1-2) with 20 points. Sean Miller scored 13 points, and Will Trotter added 11.

Columbus Christian falls

MADISON — Madison Christian Academy jumped out to a 16-2 lead after on quarter Friday and went on to hand Columbus Christian a 59-21 Southern Roads Conference loss.

Conner Emily led the Crusaders (8-8, 3-1) with seven points.

Braves topple Panthers

BROWNSTOWN — Brownstown Central jumped out to a 34-14 halftime lead and held on to beat Jennings County 64-49 on Friday.

Aaron Martin led the Panthers (5-6) with 19 points and three steals. Weston Miller added 12 points and three rebounds.

Lutheran tops Trinity

INDIANAPOLIS — Trinity Lutheran led by 10 points going into the fourth quarter Friday, but Indianapolis Lutheran outscored the Cougars 22-5 in the final period to pull out a 51-44 victory.

Josh Rowe led the Cougars (3-10) with nine points.

North sweeps Cougars

BLOOMINGTON — Columbus North pulled off a sweep at Bloomington North on Thursday, with the boys winning 109-76 and the girls claiming a 96-74 victory.

Sam Russell won the 200-yard freestyle (1 minute, 45.75 seconds) and 500 freestyle (4:53.66), Nick Green took the 200 individual medley (2:01.66) and 100 breaststroke (1:04.59) and Jared Carroll captured the 100 butterfly (53.79) and 100 backstroke (57.43) to lead the Bull Frog boys. DeShawn Austin won the diving competition (191.15), Christopher Lee took the 100 freestyle (50.40) and North captured the 200 freestyle (1:29.83) and 400 freestyle (3:22.51) relays.

For the girls, Olivia Morlok won the 200 freestyle (2:01.36) and 500 freestyle (5:16.68) and Betsy King took the 50 freestyle (25.14) and 100 freestyle (54.78). Erica Samuel won the 200 IM (2:20.54), Ella Anderson took the diving (181.40) and the Bull Frogs captured the 200 freestyle (1:46.36) and 400 freestyle (3:54.56) relays.

East girls down Stars

The Columbus East girls claimed a 104-76 win against Bedford North Lawrence on Thursday. The Stars topped the Olympian boys 97 1/2-82 1/2.

Individual winners for the East girls were Jennifer Utterback in the 50 freestyle (26.53), Cloie McDonald in diving (156.76), Maggie Johnson in the 100 freestyle (57.68), Elizabeth Proffitt in the 100 freestyle (57.68) and Karissa Miller in the 100 backstroke (1:04.88). The Olympians also took the 200 medley (1:55.61) and 400 freestyle (3:56.40) relays.

Ryan Singer won the 200 IM (2:09.06) and 100 breaststroke (1:04.56) to lead the East boys. The Olympians also won the 200 medley relay (1:49.00).
