North Wrestling Club finds success

The Columbus North Wrestling Club finished third out of 16 teams in the junior varsity division of the Indiana Wrestling League and 13th in the Indiana State Wrestling Association Elementary Team State Duals.

Some of the club’s wrestlers competed in the varsity division, and Asher Ratliff won the 90-pound class to qualify for the IWL All-Star team that will compete in the AAU National Duals in Kingsport, Tennessee. Gloria Cloud (45), Evan Saevre (95) and Jayce Emmitt (175) all finished third in the varsity division.

Kohl Dorrough (55), Gabriel Kennett (65) and Cole Stevens (90) won their weight classes in the JV division. Brody Douglas (45), Michael Matzar (80), Brayden Lee (95) and Hank Redman (105) all finished second. Palik Findley (80) and Colin Bruner (150) each took third, Brock Todd (70) was fifth and Colin Sluder (60) placed sixth.

Monsters remain unbeaten

Monsters of Rock ran its record to 6-0 with a 7-0 shutout of Slappin’ Balls.

Ben Andrews scored two goals, and Kyle Roshak, Rob Jones, Greg Thomas, Zach Henderson and Jordan Garber all added one.

Matt Street netted four goals to lead The Rockpile to a 9-2 win against CCA Kutters. Todd Houchin added three goals, and Tyler Houchin and Ryan Jepson each had one for Rockpile. Dave Dickinson scored for Kutters.

Our Name Is Earl beat Toyota Tsunamis 5-2 behind three goals from Tom Kareus and one each from Michael Kinder and Ryan Ingalls. Jimmy Robertson and Clayton McNealy scored for Tsunamis.

Hansons slipped past Yoopers 6-4. Kyle Thocher and Rahul Bhardwaj each scored two goals, and Matt Psota and Dave VanValkenburg each added one for Hansons. Josh D’Anna netted three goals, and Andy Nagus had one for Yoopers.

BASKETBALL

Central downs Batchelor

Connor Hensley scored 32 points Thursday to lead the Central seventh-graders to a 61-45 win against Bloomington Batchelor.

Phillip McKinley and Henry Sims each added eight points for the Chargers (11-3).

Panther teams victorious

Jennings County’s seventh- and eighth-grade boys White teams both won a pair of games last week.

The eighth-graders beat St. Peter’s on Tuesday 45-38 and Seymour 45-30 on Thursday to improve to 17-2. Keegan Manowitz scored 18 points against St. Peter’s and 22 against Seymour. Owen Law added 11 against Seymour.

The seventh-graders downed St. Peter’s 56-33 and Seymour 53-41 to improve to 17-1. Carter Kent scored 19 points, and Cole Sigler added 13 against St. Peters. Kent poured in 30, and Sigler had 11 against Seymour.

The Panther eighth-grade boys Blue team beat Hauser 52-23. Skyler Lewis scored 18 points, and Curtis Thompson added 11 for Jennings (6-6).

The Panther seventh-grade Blue squad topped Hauser 33-14. Blaine Ison and Peyton Bragg led Jennings (8-4) with eight points apiece.
