Two arrested after traffic stop scuffle

Columbus police arrested two people on felony drug-related charges after a scuffle ensued during a traffic stop.

Officers stopped a vehicle at County Road 200S for a minor violation at 5:20 p.m. Tuesday on County Road 200S, and determined that a passenger, Jared R. Turner, 31, Hope, had an active arrest warrant, said Lt. Matt Harris, Columbus Police Department spokesman.

Turner refused to exit the vehicle and began reaching towards the back seat of the car, Harris said. Turner was then removed from the vehicle and arrested after a short scuffle, Harris said.

Officers later located a bag of heroin in the back seat of the vehicle near where Turner was seated, Harris said.
