Beach-themed gala to support hospice efforts

Local residents can beat the winter blues at a beach party, the theme for the the 21st Annual Jennings Gala that benefits Our Hospice of South Central Indiana.

The event is starts at 6 p.m. Feb. 9 in Klinger Hall at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, 212 Washington St. in North Vernon.

“The Gala provides much needed funds to help us bring hospice care to patients and families in our North Vernon service area,” said Laura Leonard, president of Our Hospice.

Local businesses and organizations provide support for the Gala and Our Hospice, and the Jennings County High School seniors who are the 12 Gala queen candidates also help raise money for Our Hospice.

The queen candidate who raises the most money for Our Hospice will be crowned queen at the Gala. The name of this year’s queen will be kept secret until the crowning ceremony.

The event includes a social hour and dinner beginning at 6 p.m., followed by live and silent auctions, dancing and the crowning of this year’s gala queen.

First Class Catering will provide the dinner and local disc jockey Jeff Downs will provide the music.

“The Gala is always a great event, and this year’s beach party theme promises to provide another fun evening,” said Laura Leonard, president of Our Hospice.

Tickets to attend the Gala are $45 per person or $320 for a table of eight. They must be purchased by Feb. 7 and will not be sold at the door.
