Jennings County inmate escaped using a handcuff key

JENNINGS COUNTY — An inmate from the Jennings County Jail escaped police earlier this month by using a stolen handcuff key, an investigation revealed.

Kimlynn Patton, who escaped police for more than 24 hours March 1 as he was being taken to court, gained access to the key from another inmate who took it from the book-in counter at the jail, police said.

A jail officer noticed the key was missing and told supervisors, but the key was never found, according to a news release from the Jennings County Sheriff’s Office.
